The overnight beauty ritual that costs almost nothing and changes everything.
Silk or satin pillowcase, less friction on your hair and skin while you sleep. A light facial oil or sleep mask after your moisturiser. Hair in a loose braid or wrapped to protect it overnight.
You don't have to do all of it every night. But committing to one overnight habit consistently will compound into visible results in a few weeks.
Whatβs your overnight beauty ritual?

The most important thing I've learned in this industry: I am not my appearance.
My appearance is part of my work. It is not all of me.
The moments when the industry made me feel like those were the same thing were the moments I had to work hardest to stay grounded.
Your value is not determined by who books you. It was never up for casting.
How do you stay grounded when your work is tied to how you look?

Building a personal brand as a model, what it actually means.
It's not just an aesthetic. It's a point of view.
What do you stand for beyond your measurements? What do you say when you're not posing? Who is the person behind the portfolio?
The models who build real longevity in this industry have something to say. Social media gave us the platform. What we do with it is the brand.
What's the one thing you want people to know about you beyond how you look?

The casting I didn't get last year sent me to the shoot I'll remember forever.
Because the agency sent me somewhere else that week instead. And that shoot led to a relationship with a photographer who has changed how I see my own work.
The no you're dealing with right now is redirecting something. You just can't see to where yet.
Trust the redirection. π

Comparing yourself to other models is a game you cannot win. Ever.
She got that campaign? Good. That campaign wasn't built for you β it was built for her. Your next campaign is being built for someone and it might be you.
The industry is not a finite resource. Someone else getting booked does not take a booking from you.
The only competition that matters is you, growing. That's the whole race.
How do you handle comparison in a visual industry?

What to do before, during, and after a casting call.
Before: research the brand or photographer. Know what kind of work they do. Dress in a way that's relevant without trying too hard.
During: be yourself, they already know what you look like from your card. What they're casting is your energy.
After: follow up professionally if you have a direct contact. Then let it go.
The casting process teaches you more about yourself than almost anything else in this industry.
What's something you've learned from a casting? π

How to build a portfolio that actually opens doors.
Start with test shoots, find photographers who are also building their books. You both benefit.
Aim for variety: headshots, full body, editorial, lifestyle. Show range.
Quality over quantity. Ten strong images beat fifty average ones every time.
Update it every six months, the portfolio that got you your first job should not be the one you use two years later.
What does your current portfolio look like, and where do you want to take it? π

Mondays in this industry feel different to Mondays in most jobs.
No guaranteed income. No fixed schedule. No 'see you at 9am' reliability.
That used to terrify me. Now I think of it as the most honest arrangement there is.
You show up fully or you don't get the work. There's no coasting. No hiding in a role that doesn't require you.
This work requires all of you. I've decided that's the best part, not the hardest.
What does your Monday look like as a working creative?

The most underrated skill on set: knowing how to take direction.
Not just following instructions, genuinely listening, adjusting fast, and making the photographer's vision your own without losing what makes you unique.
The models who get called back aren't always the most beautiful. They're the ones who make the shoot easy. Who communicate. Who solve problems instead of creating them.
Your professionalism is as visible as your face. Sometimes more so.
What's a piece of on-set advice that changed how you work? π

Campaign wrapped. Two days, multiple looks, a creative team that made every hour feel worthwhile. Now: silence, a long shower, dinner that didn't come from a catering table. The work is done. The waiting begins.
