Tell me a fashion rule you were taught that you've completely unlearned.
Mine: that you have to 'dress for your age'. The older I get the more I dress like a concept. What's yours?
Drop it below; the most unhinged rule wins a feature on my stories this week. I need to see your answers.

The creative burnout conversation nobody has openly enough in fashion.
It is possible to work constantly and produce nothing meaningful. Rest and distance from the work are not indulgences; they are the conditions under which creative thinking regenerates.
Creative burnout in fashion is extremely common and extremely underacknowledged. The culture of constant availability and constant output is incompatible with the creative thinking the industry says it values.
The most creatively productive models, stylists, and photographers are consistently the ones who protect recovery time as aggressively as they protect booking time.

Prepping for outdoor events. The beauty products that actually hold up.
Setting spray, not setting powder, for outdoor longevity. Waterproof mascara always. Lip stain under gloss for lasting colour. Blotting papers in your bag. These hold in heat.
Outdoor event beauty is a completely different brief from indoor or studio beauty. The products that look best under studio lighting are not the products that perform best in direct sun, heat, and humidity.
Setting spray outperforms setting powder outdoors. Waterproof formulas are not optional. Blotting papers are the difference between maintained and melted.

Festival season is six weeks away. Start building the wardrobe now.
Crochet top. Wide-leg denim. Printed midi skirt. Sheer blouse. Embellished flat. These five pieces are the foundation of three days of festival dressing.
Festival dressing is the most creative styling brief of the year because the constraints are purely physical, comfortable footwear, layerable clothes, weather-flexible pieces.
Within those constraints, almost anything is valid. The error most people make is buying an entirely new festival wardrobe. Buy two or three statement pieces and build around what you already have.

Pull the outfit you feel most confident in. Wear it on Monday. Start the final stretch of May from the strongest possible position.
There is a documented psychological effect from wearing clothing you feel confident in, improved posture, stronger eye contact, more decisive speech.
This is not superficial. Fashion has always understood that how you dress affects how you feel. Use this knowledge deliberately.

The social media dimension of modelling in 2025. What it actually requires.
Consistent posting. A clear visual identity. Content that gives value beyond just looking good. And the ability to produce that content without it consuming the work it's meant to support.
Social media is now part of the professional brief for most working models. Clients want reach as well as presence.
The challenge is building a social presence that is genuine, consistent, and valuable without it becoming a second job that cannibalises time and energy from the actual work. Balance is the skill nobody teaches.

Brow shaping and maintenance. The framework that works for every face.
The start of the brow should align with the inner corner of the eye. The arch should sit above the outer edge of the iris. The end should reach the outer corner. These three points work for every face shape.
Brows frame the face more than any other feature. The three-point rule gives you the architecture; the density and finish are personal preference.
Whether you prefer a fuller, softer brow or a more defined one, the three-point placement ensures proportion. Deviation from it is where brows start to look off.

May's essential shoe edit. The three pairs that do everything this month.
White trainers: casual to smart casual. Pointed loafer: office, dinner, day. Strappy flat sandal: everything warm weather. Three shoes. Thirty outfits.
The shoe edit is the most efficient way to refresh a wardrobe without buying new clothes. The right three shoes transform the existing wardrobe.
White trainers casualise everything. The pointed loafer professionalises everything. The strappy sandal seasonalises everything. Buy the shoes, not the clothes, and the wardrobe takes care of itself.

The selects process. What happens to the images after the shoot.
Photographer delivers 500-2000 images. Client selects 20-50. Retoucher processes those. Ten images make final delivery. One might actually get used. This is normal.
Understanding the image pipeline helps models contextualise the work they do on set. Most of what you shoot is never seen publicly.
This is not failure, it is the natural filtering process of editorial and commercial photography. You are contributing to a creative process, not just producing the final image. The best images come from sets where this is understood.

Post-shoot skin recovery. What to do in the first hour after wrap.
Micellar water first pass. Double cleanse properly. Apply your thickest hydrating mask. Sleep. Tomorrow your skin will feel normal again.
Professional makeup applied for a full shoot day is significantly heavier than everyday makeup and requires more than a single cleanse to remove completely.
The micellar water pass removes the surface layer. The double cleanse removes everything beneath it.
The overnight mask restores the moisture that the heavy products and the studio lights have taken out.
