Solo travel gave me confidence I couldn't have built any other way.
Not from doing something impressive. From solving problems alone.
The missed flight. The hostel that wasn't what the photos promised. Getting genuinely lost and finding your way back.
Every small thing you figure out by yourself adds to a quiet certainty: I can handle things.
That transfers. Into life. Into decisions. Into who you are.
When did travel make you feel capable? 👇

June, done. July starts tomorrow.
And so does the new destination guide on my SoSpoilt page.
Everything I know about the place built into something you can actually use. Not just inspiration, but a real guide for if you go.
See you on July.

What June taught me about travel and about myself.
That the unplanned moments are always worth more than the planned ones.
That the people you meet matter more than the places you see.
That coming home isn't the end of the trip — it's part of it.
I travel to leave. And I travel to have something to come back from.
Both are necessary. 🤍

Half a year of movement done.
New cities. Familiar ones revisited. Plans that worked and plans that didn't.
The world is enormous and six months barely scratches it. That's not discouraging. That's the whole point.
There is always somewhere to go. Always something to be curious about. Always another version of yourself to discover in a place that doesn't know you yet.
Where did June take you?

Road trip essentials: What I've learned from too many hours in a car.
1. Download offline maps before you leave cell coverage. Don't learn this lesson the way I did.
2. A car power adapter — phones drain faster when navigating.
3. A small cooler bag. Not glamorous. Lifesaving on a long drive.
The scenic route is almost always worth the extra time. The highway gets you there. The backroads make the trip.
And always — always — have the hotel confirmation written somewhere that isn't your phone.
What's your road trip non-negotiable?

The consistency that matters most in travel isn't the frequency of your trips.
It's the consistency of curiosity.
The person who stays curious about the world — about people, places, the way things work elsewhere — builds a life that travel enhances, not one that depends on it.
Curiosity compounds. Just like everything worth building.
What are you curious about right now?

How to document your travels without missing them.
Put the camera away for the first hour in any new place. Just be there.
1. Then photograph with intention — not compulsively. Ask yourself: is this a moment, or is this proof I was here?
2. Keep a written or voice note journal — even just one sentence a day. Photos capture the place. Words capture how you felt about it.
In ten years you'll want the feeling more than the image.
How do you balance documenting and experiencing?

June reflection.
The trips that happened: worth every early alarm and delayed flight.
The trips that didn't: still waiting. Still patient.
What I'm carrying into July: less planning, more presence. More saying yes when something unexpected appears.
Travel is as much about the disposition you bring as the destination you choose.
What's one thing you're carrying into the second half of the year?

How to find authentic experiences instead of tourist versions.
1. Stay longer than three days. The authenticity comes after the obvious things.
2. Talk to people in ordinary jobs — the taxi driver, the café owner, the person at the laundromat.
3. Avoid any restaurant with a photograph menu displayed outside facing the street.
5. Go where the sound is — a market, a local event, a festival you didn't plan for.
Authenticity isn't a place. It's what happens when you stop trying to see and start trying to understand.
What's the most authentic experience you've had abroad? 👇

6 months in. The destinations that stayed with me.
Not the ones with the best photos. The ones that changed something.
The conversation that made me rethink what I'd been assuming. The morning that felt like the purest version of being alive. The detour that became the whole story.
Travel isn't a highlight reel. It's a collection of moments that add up to something.
